“Corrupt officials of Lagos State working with suspected land grabbers”

The Resettlement Committee of Eyin Osa yesterday insisted that corrupt officials of the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) were working with suspected land grabbers to dislodge the community from the settlement duly allocated to them by the state government.
They urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Commissioner of Police Alabi Abiodun to probe their claims with a view to stopping the criminals.
A statement yesterday signed by Director, Olayinka Yahya, Chairman, Olatunde Oluwo and Secretary, Chief Sade Takiu, described as deliberate misinformation, mischievous falsehood and outright lies, the account of one Adebare Murphy that he was engaged by traditional rulers, Baale, indigenes and community leaders to reclaim the said land.
According to the trio, the action of Murphy and his cohorts was clearly a case of invasion and encroachment because no individual or group could challenge their ownership and possessory rights on the land in question, save a Judgment of Court or Revocation by the State Government.
“The assertion that “traditional rulers”, “indigenes”, “Baale” and “community leaders” engaged the said Adebare Murphy is a tenuous concoction weaved to pull the wool on the public’s face because no individual, group of persons and/or institution(s) can challenge our ownership and possessory rights on the land in question, save a Judgment of Court or Revocation by the State Government.”
